Amphipod hunting copepod?

Caught these critters on video this morning. Not the best quality, but at about the 5 second mark you can see what I'm guessing is an an amphipod that appears to be chasing a copepod.

You can also see my dirty glass and sand. I've got some work to do this weekend.

Oh, yeah, that's normal behavior for the common amphipods. They're opportunistic and like protein.

I just feel like amphipods have no sense of where to mobe they just do frontflips and scurry about randomly.

Erratic motions help make it harder for predators to track and catch them. They can't be completely inept at motion or they'd all have gotten eaten millennia ago. They do look like it though.

Yeah, lots of pods like to prey on other (typically smaller) pods - some species are outright predatory carnivores, others are more opportunistic omnivores, and others are basically purely herbivores. As a general rule, the bigger the pod, the more likely it is to be carnivorous.

I see amphipods in my tank like parkour between coralline algae on my rock and just stare at me or something when i shine a flashlight on them
