He's a rescue from my niece. He was a Birthday present for her when she was younger, after a couple of years she lost interest (boys) and was being neglected. He was getting too big for the 20g tank he was in and that's when I took him. I've had him for about 8 years now. He spends the Spring and Summer months in the backyard and has free range because it's fenced all around. During the cold months he's indoors and has free range of most of the first floor, but basically hibernates most of the time only coming out to eat once and a while. They aren't demanding pets just leave a bowl of water and food out and that's it, they spend most of the time just basking in the sun.

I have had turtles years ago and I remember my friend that had 2 tortoises, I always wanted to try. I think yours is assume. but my next challenge will be SPS
