Recently gave our colonies a "haircut", new frags posted. Posted a mix of Aussie frags plus frags from our colonies that have been here for years.

A few pics of our parent colonies. These have been in our system for years and as you can see been fragged many times. These are not display pieces, but rather farming colonies. Many have grown onto the eggcrate and around and under it!

I do not envy you - I must admit. It is always a fine balancing act as a small business owner to manage this sort of crop / livestock. What to buy, the investment to grow it, then to calculate what makes sense to both you and your customers as to when to frag it and then how often. We all want the colonies but of course that doesn't make sense for our hobby and environment. So then you have to balance cut frequency and size. A tough one for sure. Maybe envy isn't the right word - but I do find it intriguing never the less what must go through your mind.

Always great looking products you share and also on your site. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for your comments.

I have lots of Acropora colonies growing and have for years. I try to cut some frags, 20-40, every week and occasionally do a more extensive cutting of about 100-200.

I cut 400 frags one day recently of SPS other than Acropora such as Stylophora, Seriatopora, and Pocillopora. Every day we are cutting something. Mostly cutting frags that have grown. For each coral we try to keep a parent colony on a 3 inch disc plus some growout frags on 1.25 inch plugs and lots of saleable frags on .75 inch plugs.
