Hi,

Two weeks ago I have set up a coral quarantine tank with water and some rock from my main display.
Now the bottom is covered with a brown film and I would say they are diatoms what would make sence as it is probably going through a mini cycle..

But I recently bought a microscope to id the red stuff I'm my main tank (was cyano) so now I have used it too to see what the brown film is.
I'm not experienced with a microscope but i would say it are diatoms with bacretia feeding on them.

What do you guys think? IMG_20200711_124930.jpg

Ah nice thanks.

Are they all diatoms? Or are the guys with the long needle shape diatoms and the rectangle shaped guys bacteria?

I think all we see there is only diatoms. You know they build up something (slime) to keep attached. I think that's what the rest is on the video.
What's the zoom on your Microscope ?

Ok cool, I thought it was an algae or something.
It is 400x zoom, any more than that and the vield of view gets so narrow it is almost impossible to see something.
