Two smaller skimmer usually work better than a single larger one. IMO, larger skimmers are not beasts for the most part. Some of this is that most of the great skimmers over time just lucked into being good, so more lottery tickets means more chances for a manufacturer to get it right.

Seen people spend a fortune on an Orca, or something like that, and have it get crushed by a pair of 20 year old ASM skimmers. I have a nice collection of skimmers that perform excellently and I would probably use a 36" LifeReef and a ASM G4 or G5 on that tank - these two will beat any new skimmer alone.

Three skimmers works even better.
