Woke up this morning and there are black patches on my orange shoulder tang and new convict tang. All fish are eating good. I have seen the orange shoulder flashing but I assumed it was ich and was going to start copper soon. I'm not sure what these black patches are. Bacterial maybe? I hope not, they looked fine yesterday. I tried to get the best pictures I could. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very odd that a few hours later and the black spot on the convict is gone. I can't figure out what it was.

Problem solved!

Actually, looks like the tangs have been sparring with something - evidenced by the ripped fins. These spots could have been discoloration from other injuries.

I believe the spot on the convict was from stess because I remember seeing these spots on him when he was in the bag on the way home. After he calmed down they went away. The patches on the orange shoulder I believe are from scratching because he has been flashing a lot. I can't see ich but I believe that is what is causing his discomfort because he has already been through prazipro 9 days ago.

Convict was probably just discoloration.
Mine can turn almost black, when stressed or at night, and will have some black spot like discolorations until it goes away.
I believe so but now I have to figure out the best way to proceed with the orange shoulder tang. I do believe there is ich in the tank. He is in a 90 qt tank now but was in a 55 qt with my hippo tang that in currently being treated with. Copper power. I can't see the ich on him as well as I could on the hippo. He is flashing a lot through. I guess my next step is to start the 90 on Copper power. Trying to keep these tangs happy and healthy while I set up my 300g display is becoming a challenge.

You’ll need to do a second Prazipro dose to kill off any trematodes that have hatched from eggs since the first dose. I usually do that on a 7 to 10 day cycle. Sometimes a third dose is needed.

I did a water change and did a second dose. Half way through the second dose they developed ich so I stopped the second dose a little early and did a water change and started copper. That was in my 55qt. I moved the orange shoulder out right before I started copper and put him in a 90 because I seen him picking on my small hippo that was weak and covered in ich.

I am not exactly sure what my next move should be. Start copper in the 90 or start prazipro? I see a lot of scratching from the orange shoulder but I can’t visibly see ich. Also I don't see any head shaking either. Everyone In the 90 is eating really good and acting fine except I see them scratching and flashing some but the orange shoulder does it the most.

Without rapid breathing or spots on the fish, and with the fish eating o.k., but still scratching, I would consider trying another Prazipro dose. However, that course of action isn't 100$% certain to me.....
