I’m sorry that is not how I feel I appreciate your advice it would be a good idea if I had a decent sump with a filter sock and running a refugium which I plan on doing I’m just working on a sump design right now. Look man I really appreciate your advice. I’m just running a aquaclear 50 hang on back. So the filtration is subpar at best. My phosphates climed considerably. After removing stuff. I know that once I have the sump and filtration is much more steady I can get rid of that poly filter. But the poly filter mainly just helps with removing organics. Not so much trace elements. I don’t really even notice a difference with the purigen to be honest. I’m using a little bit of poly and purigen just enough to keep water clean and healthy.
