hi guys

I’m just wondering if these white specs are in fact copepods. I’ve dosed 200ml for the last 2 weeks after a weekly water change but tonight they seem to be out in force. It almost looks like its a bloom or some sort

i have attached a photo and a video with all the pumps off for about 10 minutes to see if it was detritus or something else

any ideas?

its only a 6 second video so its hard to say, but I see stuff falling slowly like snow in the video, Do you have a powerhead in there? Looks like it needs more flow. I would say detritus before copepod, but who knows, very hard to ID a white dot.

Pumps were off.

water movement is a aqua medic 1.3 return and a hidom ap-1500 powerheaD in a 20g waterbox 20
I did a water change a few hours ago so possibly it has suspended detritus?

unfortunately i had to keep the video short and sweet as i had difficulty uploading it

Can you fish some out (sorry for the pun) and look under a microscope or strain the water in a fine media bag or piece of roller mat fleece etc you should see them moving when a load of them are bunched up.

Looking back to your reefing roots: Did you start with Instant Ocean salt?
