I posted about this here:
Original post

But I came back to a huge algae bloom. I was curious if someone could help me identify the algae in my tank. I appreciate any help with identifying the algae.

I can’t help you with microscope identification, but you need a serious clean up crew starting with you.

Going to be a deep clean today but just want to see if there is something specific that I can do.

If you have a tank journal, I could see the big picture and comment accordingly.

Nutrient management comes in many forms. I choose to use nutrient recycling into desirable biomass. Your present algae biomass is undesirable, so clean it up with vacuuming and partial water changes.

For long range stability, I suggest adding adding an algae refugium with activated carbon to remove DOC or better a cryptic refugium that process DOC into food for the microbial loop.

In all cases, increasing biodiversity with diver collected live rock & live sand will maximize stability in your ecosystem.
