Just noticed this today on my tang. Anyone know what it is? The rest of the tank mates look fine.

Head and lateral line erosion- comes as a result of poor water or diet.
Check your params.
What are you feeding?
It also has been linked to carbon in the filter.
I will add to your comment that stray voltage has also been claimed to possibly be a cause. But I don’t believe anyone actually knows for a fact.

Agree - HLLE - which many feel is due to use of poor(er) quality activated carbon dust somehow. Also poor water quality, nutrition and a variety of other possibilities. There is not much to do about it except excellent water quality, nutrition, etc - and if using activated carbon, consider switching to a high grade version.
