Oh forgot to mention!! Check out the last photo from this recent post. My rainbow bta split. It was looking really fat and colorful, after having fed it really well and performing a water change it appeared to me that it was moving. I thought maybe temp swing or something with recent hott days. Came back to the tank several hours later and bam! Baby nem split. Pretty awesome!!

I haven’t done an update for some time so wanted to share. Took the dive and purchased three brand new AI prime 16HDs with the bracket mount. They turned out amazing. Love the color spectrum and the easy and built in controls. The mounts are awesome they allow so much flexibility for mounting. I maxed out the height on the mounting bracket to have the lights about 12“ above the water line. I may lower them slightly depending on how much I notice light spill. I took some advice from youtube and mounted the arms to the lights upside down so the cords runs on top and out of sight. I haven’t played around with the schedule yet, I placed the light settings fairly low and turned on a 7 day acclimation to prevent coral bleaching. Ive heard good things about schedule “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Saxby“. If you run AI primes on a 65gallom or similar sized reef tank please share your settings would love to get ideas. Anyways...what everyone is here for..some pics.

No I just went with however much rock looked appealing to the eye. I wanted some negative space between the two islands.
Did u follow the 1 pound per gallon on live rock? On my 65 it seems like too much rock yet it's looks good

Update time, did some coral purchases, some coral trades and swaps with local reefers. My clowns started mating and laying eggs which is cool. Only downside is the female BW occellaris clownfish is a total B! She bites me, she knocks corals away, she started attacking my feather duster so I had to move it. She killed a blue legged hermit for getting too close. Its insane, but anyways...heres some pics.

Some of the recent adds, large red montipora colony. Ultra green hammer, blue plating sponge, pulsing xenia frag, clove polyp frag. 31C9B585-2006-4026-9A86-F03E18CDDE43.jpeg C25DA9E3-75A9-4C3E-9736-8DB29FD96905.jpeg E4717045-FACE-4058-8E09-25B603291D7F.jpeg 6BE3AC40-EEE3-4AD0-BBDD-3BCC6936B372.jpeg 27FE91AA-4B3D-4547-81C4-770F95529792.jpeg EA47F8FC-623E-4F41-BD35-634DF987B3C7.jpeg FB38E177-7940-4DC0-ABBF-EF93A5D20515.jpeg 251BCA61-59F3-4458-813F-CE1E47E8B9CF.jpeg 49F3268F-FB2C-4540-8777-018409080769.jpeg 34F7157A-185A-4F6E-9908-7EB798DD13A9.jpeg

Ha! What’s up HOTWATER! Yeah man I remember you. A lot of my colonies in this tank were moved over from my JBJ30 rimless. I actually have a little nano tank cycling right now. Was going to use water change water from my bigger tank to keep it running and do macro algae’s and gorgonias. 7.4 gallon peninsula from lifegard aquatics was really inexpensive and the quality is awesome. All glass, even the all in one baffle is glass drilled and slotted for the overflow.

Looks great! What are you going to light it with? I might have to grab something like that for my daughters bedroom, maybe some pulsing Xenia, gap, and shrooms and 1-2 fish.

Glad to see your still around your tank is looking really good and the stand is fire!

Anything you dislike about the jbj 65 so far? After watching some brs tv I think I’ll go with 2 primes and space then 10” respectively from each side of the tank only plan is softies and lps hoping it will be enough should be.

Glad you like the stand! Havent decided on the nano light yet, ive been browsing. Two AI primes should be more than enough for a softy dominant tank. I went a little overboard, but I have a couple sps pieces, nems, a clam, and wanted to eventually add some harder to keep sps frags. I enjoy the variety of a well mixed reef. Only thing i didnt like on the jbj65 flat panel is the acrylic partition. Glass is relatively cheap, i feel they should have made the false wall all glass. I think given a second chance i would have gone with similar water volume but a wider footprint for a 48” wide tank and maybe shallower like 16” deep with a sump. But for now I'm really happy with my 65, and will most likely keep this going for a long time....or until the wife wants to re do our floors or move house. Haha.

hit me up on instagram @dannico314

Another quick update on the tank. Bought a huge colony of split pore sea rod gorgonian. It was much bigger when I brought home and added it to the tank than I thought. It definitely adds cool structure and fills in the back corner of my tank nicely.

Thanks bud, best of luck on the new tank build. Do you have a plan of what you’re going to try to keep in it. Always interested in what people decide to do for scapes and corals etc.
