Hey guys, so my tank is up and running and finished cycling and now the diatoms have started. I know this is normal with a new tank. My question is, is there something we’re supposed to do about them or are we just supposed to let them run their course? If I understand correctly they’re eating the silicate that is in the water, and once that is depleted they should die off and go away? Is there anything that can be done to speed up this process? You can see them on the sand in the pic below. Thanks for your help.

Leave them be to self control their population.
It will speed up the process of your tank reaching stability if you dont remove them.
They'll always be there which is a very good thing for your tank.
