Hi, All.

I came downstairs this morning and found my V puffer with a bump at his butt. I'm thinking it may be a prolapsed anus, but would like someone to confirm it. From what I've read, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do, but I'd like confirmation on that, too. He's my lil buddy and I don't want to lose him. :(

He's eating and acting normal, and I do vary their diet with clams on the half shell, frozen mysis/spirulina brine/mega marine angel mix with Selcon, LRS Reef Nano, and TDO pellets.

Thank you for your expertise and advice.

It does. Generally it retracts by itself but if fish is eating, you can try boiling a few peas and allow to cook, then take the inner meat and feed to puffer which relieves constipation and acts as a laxative
Seachem metroplex added to foods may help also

Yes - It is a prolapse - of the cloaca. Whether the prolapse is due to 'food' or 'eggs' is unknown. The usual recommendation is if the fish is 'normal' - and eating - let it be to see if it responds on its own. Otherwise - a minor surgery can also be done - Hope this helps. Pretty fish

Hi, @vetteguy53081 and @MnFish1.

Just wanted to follow up on this, b/c it kept slipping my mind until I saw this in my history. I'm happy to report that thankfully my lil "Bruce" took a massive dookie later that day and was all better! He's doing fantastic and it hasn't happened since! He even lets me pet him now, LOL! I changed my profile pic to a recent pic of him. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!

great to hear. Remember brine shrimp in the future which acts as a laxative.
Cheers !!
