Egg Sac Perhaps?

any idea what this is? It’s about an inch in length.

It really doesn't look like an egg sac to me - it looks like it has a nerve chord/notochord with that brown string running from top to bottom. Closest thing I know would be some kind of tunicate, but I'm not confident that's what this is. I would guess some kind of simple organism either way though.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
