Hello everyone, I have a couple questions if anyone feels like throwing in some input.
First, what is a fair price to pay for a 2012 mp40? It has no issues
And next, would you even buy a 10 year old one? It has had multiple owners already so prolly has had periods of neglect id imagine.
I'm looking to buy one, am considering new, but I am very hesitant to purchase one this old. They asked what id pay and I dont want to insult anyone but does $50-75 sound about right?
Can you still buy parts for older ones also if needed?
Thanks everyone!

Mine are 4 years old and one dry side is already making noises like the bearing is toast. I’d be weary of anything used longer than that. Look here in the classifieds for a slightly used unit.

Hard to say what price would be fair but the older mp models are cross compatible with the newer generation wet sides

I wouldn’t buy it. Despite being so costly, vortechs seem to have the same rate of wear, tear, and presence of lemons as cheaper pumps do. I’d never buy anything reef related that has moving parts in the 10+ year age range.

This. Yet folks still price them as if they are made by king midas himself.

You would need to give me about 10 gallons of gas to take a new Ecotech product off of your hands. A used one might need 15-20 gallons for me to relieve you of your troubles.

Hate ecotech products much :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:. I bet you could start a focus group!

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I am still being reasonable and acknowledging that I do have a price.

50-75 is a fair price but not worth it. At that age they are going to be very loud and unreliable. I would rather have a new Jebao then a 10 year old mp40
