Howdy reefers,

I am debating converting my old 15 gallon cube into a small frag tank and am struggling to decide what fish to stock it with. I know people like to put six lines in theirs, but I am worried a 15g would be too small for one, even if he was the only fish.

My priorities are pest and algae control, but most suggestions I have seen in my searches seem like this tank is too small for them.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a frag tank noob here?

Thanks!

Small damsels are good for pest control, I have a yellow belly blue damsel in mine. Algae control fish is gonna be tough in 15 gal, I’d stick with trochus snails. No crabs in there, they’ll just annoy your frags

My LFS keeps scooter blennies in their frag tanks for that but not sure if one is appropriate for a 15g. Maybe a blue neon cleaner goby?

Have you thought about a pink streaked wrasse for pest control?
A 15 gallon should be alright for them.
They're related to the six line wrasse, and look similar, but without the size and aggression of the six lines.

You might be able to get away with a saltwater acclimated/raised molly for some algae control, however I have no experience with them in smaller tanks.
