I am just getting back into having a FOWLR TANK after a couple of years of TANK shut-down.
I intend on having a couple if clownish and anemone. Later adding foxface and Tang.
My question is do I really need to run a protein skimmer on this. I am hoping this is in a Cade Frag tank. TIA.

Short answer... No.

However, I run a skimmer on mine and judging by the gunk it pulls, I am glad I do.

IMO, the gas exchange and removal of toxins and toxic metals is too important and people don't do a good enough job of this otherwise. You can do either of these things elsewhere, but skimmer is really good at it.
