So on a rock on sandbed-
My sand sifting goby makes the sand snow all over my tank. If you can put it on an angled rock so current can sweep sand and detritus off of it and it will catch and eat the food items that land on top. Flat surfaces tend to collect stuff and the coral will have to work to keep clean.
