Something must be off. I'm new to the hobby and feel like I'm calibrating these correctly. First I didn't buy a refractometer as I heard the Hanna checker is the most accurate. I start to calibrate and it's giving me error messages and took probably 15 minutes to finally get it calibrated. When I measure my display tank and quarantine tank is takes over a minute to settle. Before it settles the measurement is all over the place. Brought it to the fish store I got it at and they said it was working. Then I calibrate the Neptune probe and it's saying my tank is at 38ppt to 39ppt. Then I read that you have to calibrate that with a tc factor which I just did and now it's saying 36.7ppt. The Hanna checker says 35ppt after a couple minutes. There's so much conflicting information on reefing that I'm having a hard time learning. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Take the hanna checker and put it in a 35 ppt calibration fluid - dont calibrate, just read - what is the reading ? Do the same thing with the neptune probe.

Ok I'll try that. I think the Neptune probe is close now. It's saying 35.6 now.
