Hey all, I’ve had this fish for about … 6? Months now. Got it from a LFS - definitively had ich & QT’d in copper for 32 days - if memory serves copper never fell below 2.3ppm but was closer to 2.53ppm the whole time.
Fish swims & eats perfectly fine. (Was actually feeding in pics) Acts perfectly normal for how I’ve seen it behave. It’s in a 220g tank with 50g sump. Doesn’t seem stressed at all - is this some sort of parasite or is it just a cut/nick like … idk fish version of a scab? Lol I’ve had some serious bad luck with fish health lately and really hoping this. Maybe the yellow tang kicked him hard & it’s just healing? I’ve seen them bicker a little bit but nothing bad. They both like the same dang rock for some reason.

ALL fish in this tank were Qt’d in copper for 30 days prior to entry aside from the biota YT. A CUC package from reeflceaners, and the dozen corals were even QT’d fallow for two months as well.

Also honest question - I love seeing pics of fat plump fish. Do you guys think this is healthy width for a idk .. 3” blue tang? 2 clowns, 1 yellow, 1 blue, I feed them a chunk of frozen pemysis daily, some pellets, and different colors of nori. Half a sheet lasts like two days they don’t eat on it too much yet. Gonna toss a cube of brine in there today in a bit too - I feed once a day in the afternoons every day.

Looks like protruding, not tang scrape to me IMO, Glad more knowledgeable people can tell (I’ve seen little slices from tang on tang injuries)
Debra
Yeah it does seem like it protrudes a little. It’s got some white ish tint to the outer edges tho the pics aren’t good. Like a scab healing on a human OR like a tick burying in I really couldn’t tell. Ugh. Lol that’s why I came here to ask. Would suck if I had some parasites or some crap after all this work for this tank lol

It does not appear to be a parasite. It seems to be an injury

However - there are 'isopods' - which I guess upon closer inspection it could be I assume - that you have not introduced anything. If you could get a better picture - all good.

More pics just made it even harder to decide for me. Lol one clearly looks like a puncture. But every other way the light hits it make it look scabbish. Idk

It looks like an injury to me as well. These can be what is termed an avulsion (spelling?) where the tissue sticks up a bit.
If it showed up suddenly I think that would confirm an injury. If it grew in size over time, then it could be an infection. I’ve not seen a parasite look like that.

Shew, thanks Jay. You’ve helped me a ton! It did show up very suddenly I look check everything out minimum once or twice a day and feel like I would’ve noticed this. So I’m leaning toward injury and will just keep monitoring

I do not - I have a cleaner shrimp who’s poked me pretty dang hard with his claws before and a ton of snails, that’s it besides the other 3 fish lol
I dont see urchin but rather, this is a fish that is timid and will not hesitate to dive into rocks and get an injury here and there.
