From the pic, it looks like a sponge to me. And all I can from the pic is a leather

Toadstools look like a toadstool and mushrooms look like the cap of a mushroom I guess.

I always thought this naming was weird. Toadstools look way more like an actual mushroom than a mushroom coral does.

I’d guess either a sponge or a solitary tunicate (if it had two big openings, it may be a tunicate) - either one should be harmless.
