In my 55 gallon i top off with 1-3 cups of ro water every 30 minutes to an hour. Is this too much to add at once or could I add more?

I mean 1) that seems like a an abnormal amount of water loss but 2) just get an ATO, save yourself a lot of time and head ache 3) adding 2 cups to top off 55 gallon is not too big of a swing imo.
I Don’t do it every day, I just do it every week or two when the water gets too low.

Oh. Then why you say you top it off every 30 min to an hour?

You need to maintain your salinity at closely optimum levels. Get yourself some kind of ATO, even if it is a simple gravity fed bottle. Your livestock will thank you.
