Any advice on how to clean connectors ?
I would take it apart and clean with alcohol, and/or replace rusty connectors. Looks like that has been used in a very moist environment...
You can buy cleaners specifically for the purpose at electronic parts stores. They come in spray or liquid. While there pick a small packet of electrical grease. The liquid can be applied gently with a Q-tip. You could also use a little viniger on a Q-tip if the contacts are really bad. Clean both the connector and the cable, after drying use a little electrical grease after to help keep it clean in the future.
Do you know the name of the cleaner
Just clean with vinegar and small toothbrush. Cheap and you probably have it on hand.
Separate names with a comma.
