And I remember you once saying "No Shrimp"
What else do you recommend that I can easily obtain from my local Krogers?
I was thinking about mussels or oysters, how about those or even fresh fish?
I've got four triggers in a FOWLR and want to vary their diet in addition to flake food they eat.
Many years ago I used to grind up smelt and beef heart to feed to my Africans.
What say you Pal?

Freeze them and chop or shave thin slices off. Don't put them in the blender because that makes mush.

Fred, Big Red 1. I remember you guys. After we in "The First Cav" did all the heavy lifting you guys came in to clean up.

Throw out those flakes or give them to your cat. They are not a good food for anything.
Any shellfish is great, mussels are the cheapest but also the slimiest. I get large chowder clams which are cheap and I shave off paper thin slices after I freeze them.

Worms are great even earthworms. Your triggers will love them and due to the dirt in them, they have plenty of gut bacteria to keep those fish healthy. I wouldn't use fish for feed because most of the nutrition is in the guts but if you can chop them up so you can include those guts without them going all over your tank, they will be fine.
