Well done idunnoyou! That's an awesome tank. What are you thinking of stocking?
The wife wants cichlids but I don't think I can do that haha. Honestly I have no idea right now it's just sitting with water in it. Trying to decide if I want to attempt bare bottom

That’s a fancy tank for cichlids lol. But I can’t say anything I bought a Waterbox for bettas XD

I did finally (this past weekend as a matter of fact) switch it to my reef while I get the main one fixed back up. Seems MTS is in your future?

If mts stands for multi tank syndrome Im up to like 6 in the house haha. One main reef tank (I'll post later today), frag tank, Qt tank, freshwater shrimp tank, planted tank, and my daughter rainbow fish tank, well I guess 7 counting the new sr 80.... Maybe I got a problem

Well I decided an AIO wasn't for me! I started the process to drill the tank.

Now the main question right now do I still the bottom or side? If I drill the side what's the best external over flow box?
Looking at min 20 gallon long sump but will most likely do a 40 breeder.

During the teardown it was honestly easier to break the baffles. I tried a razer and even fishing line(honestly should have bought better line as the cheap kind kept breaking) I just reported to ole faithful!

Here's some updated photos

Wow! It looks HUGE without the filtration system

Get an external coast to coast or ghost overflow. Minimal space inside the tank taken up

It looks like a different tank tbh I just gained 5.5" over the entire tank a ton of room especially for my tang or tangs I plan on getting.

Check this out

My 75g aqueon has an eyesore internal overflow. I hate it. I have to curve rocks and coral around it. Flow is weak o the side of it. It’s ugly

I mounted two orange Lepto to it in hopes a year from now it looks more like a reef and less like a big plastic chunk

For my next build I swore I wouldn’t deal with this again

And on my current build, 83g, 48x20x20 I have an external ghost overflow. It is 1” inside the tank and 2” behind it. Looking from the front it’s as if it’s not even there…

I used a flash and the tank is dusty in my garage but I wanted you to be able to see it.

Nice looking tank! Guess the internal hasn't bothered me on my 60 but these new over flow boxes do look sweet. Maybe I get one that can at least do 1000gph and mount in the middle would make plumbing it a little easier as well

My wife trying to talk me into cichlids tank because it's in our bedroom and she doesn't see the need for another reef tank. I think I'll get the papers drafter haha
maybe she’ll settle for a full macro algae display? like the ones mosaic macros post pictures/ videos of all the time
that would be sweet

It's been decided by my two year old. I ask" saltwater or cichlids?" She replies "corals" I can't argue with my daughter haha

DO YOU USE A PAR METER WHEN PLACING NEW CORAL IN YOUR TANK?

  • Yes! I think it's important for the longterm health/growth of my coral.

  • Yes, but I don't find that it is necessary all the time.
