Is it normal that mantis shrimp molting without closing it's burrow ?

Before buying my mantis I do some research and I have heard that mantis shrimp close it's burrow while molting then won't come out from there from days to weeks , I just realized my mantis shrimp never close it's burrow door , and then one day just see this guy already eating it's own skin (molt) is it okay or I should worried ? Kept this mantis for about 5 months

It can happen sometimes.

They molt a lot more than we realize and can be really good about hiding the molt and burying it so we never know. I've never seen the one I have molt a single time or close up but surely after 6 months she's done it at some point.

If it didnt close up it must be really comfortable in there so as long as you provide it with the tools it needs it'll use them if it feels like it.
 

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
