What size school of green chromis would be large enough for them not to pick each other off? I was think ~15 in my 90G with a small convict tang, 4" foxface, and a lawnmower blenny. Thoughts?

They will pick each other off.... the strong will pick on the weak until there are only the strong left. Fish Hierarchy is a funny thing.

There are so many theories about how to successfully get chromis to shoal/school, none proven but some stories I've heard were;
  1. keep an odd #
  2. keep them well fed w plenty of rockwork hiding places
  3. have a predator or bully in the tank that'll cause chromis to shoal for protection
  4. Get large chromis
  5. introduce them all at same time
I've had no success with keeping shoal of chromis, always ended up with one :(
GL & please share if you are able to keep them alive.

15 to 1 in 3 seconds or less, btw, chromis are not a schooling fish, they are considered shoal fish. They group together for protection.

If you keep a nice size school like that you’ll be fine. It’s helpful to mix in a small school (5ish) of anthias, something hearty like lyretails. Don’t believe the hype that they will pick each other off. Those experiences are usually early in from disease, or keeping far to few of them in too small a tank.

Good luck!
