I had 3 female and one male lyretail anthias for a year.found the male this morning(after noticing it was MIA for a few days)or what was left of him.One of the females has gotten pretty big,is it likely that a dominance struggle could have caused the death?the only other thing i can think is maybe it was attacked in its sleep by my sea star or something else.

The female saw an opportunity to usurp the male and become the dominant anthias. This is pretty common with lyretails.

I was going to get a Lyretail. But what's the point if they're going to kill each other off? Will that female turn into a male now?

So if I get just one male and one female will the female kill him?
Possibly, or possibly the male will kill the female. A larger group diffuses aggression. Getting a group of females allows them to determine the hierarchy as well.

Ok So now I'm down to just one male. Would one male be ok by himself or will he commit suicide? We're talking about the Lyretail.
