This pump is never used. The sealed box was opened to take the pictures. Dolphin Aqua Sea pumps are designed to handle very high head situations, making them ideal for a basement sump setup. This pump is rated at 7900 GPH and has what are referred to as "Type 3" (marine, abrasive environment) seals which are specifically favored for reef aquariums, but are suited to virtually any aquarium or pond environment you can think of. The pump is designed to prevent heat transfer from the motor to the water.
