Mixed tank is coming along while cycling sps tank

My mixed tank is doing good but can’t wait for my sps tank to cycle. How long are you guys cycling tanks before adding SPS corals?

I've had mine running just water and rock since July 23rd, but rocks sat in a water barrel for 6 months at least prior to that. Once I can afford some Radions, it'll be close to a year for me. I have about 30 high end frags cooking in my biocube currently. Update when you make the switch please.

All depends on what is used during the cycle. To.be honestly I've never had a tank that could support sps right off the bat. It always seemed like the tank needed to be running and go though a few ugly stages and mature for atleast 6-8 months before I was able to successfully keep sps. (Meaning keep their color, grow, and be healthy) I've been able to keep sps before that but usually with poor success rate, they'd brown out, loose all PE, or just stay exactly how they were and not grow.

Ok thank you, my first tank is set up mixed and didn’t add sps for about 4 months and never had a problem. Now just waiting is killing me I’m at 2 1/2 right now on the SPS tank but just tossed a few Monti caps in for test corals they are growing but nothing crazy still trying to peg PH at 8.3 sitting around 8-8.15
