Hi I recently bought some wrasses and I have had them for a week now doing the hybrid ttm. I didn't a water change this morning with hydro dip. But right now 2 of my wrasses are on the floor on thier side and breathing looks irregular. Othe wrasses have been in same quarantine and the look fine. I hit tank with prime incase ammonia gets it and do water change every other day to be safe. Can anyone help or tell me why. Will try to load a video of them

Please add some white light pics and a short video. What are your ammonia and copper levels if using at and what tests are being used

I see what appear to be “spots” down the back in first pic. Breathing rapid? @Jay Hemdal
His breathing is actually not fast its the red fin that is fast. He just lays on his side which worries me. They both do move if I get near them with something. Net or feeding tube. Haven't really seen them eat. The last couple days

What type are the other wrasses?

I do hybrid TTM but found that fairy wrasses didn’t do too well with it. Sand sleepers did fine tho. Although I did give them sand to hide in.

The large white pvc isn’t ideal. I know it is what people recommend but you can see one hiding by the heater. Many fish don’t particularly feel hidden in bright white huge holes if you get my gist.

The other 2 wrasses are a yellow Corris wrasse and a sea grass wrasse. How would you recommend qting fairy wrasses? Should I add maybe dark abs tubing instead of pvc though I haven't looked up if abs is safe in saltwater

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Do you have an ammonia test to get an actual reading of the level?

TTM does sometimes let parasites through, more than a regular quarantine does.

Here is a link to other info that is helpful for us to know:

I have the redsea test kit. I can test when I get home from work. Thank you for your response and I will try to get that information out as soon as I can. I just checked on them and Scott's is in the same spot again and red fin is in the pvc both look similar still

I would probably just do traditional QT rather than moving them all the time.

I have spare freshwater hiding places like a plastic log and a grey skull and the fish always prefer those over pvc when put together. I think simply because the freshwater decorations coloration looks aged/normal. Black pvc is probably better if it’s safe.

Sorry to hear. In terms of damage control, you need to ensure the rest of the fish are protected. The first thing is to rule out any ammonia issues. If that is fine, then the next most common issue would be velvet (Amyloodinium) that got through the TTM process. The remaining fish have been exposed and could likely develop the same problem. In that case, coppersafe at full strength for 30 days in a QT would be my suggestion.
