My zoas are dying!!!

Hi everyone! I have a 144 gallon mixed reef tank. I bought a frag pack from a user on reef2reef and got a bunch of zoas and palys. I noticed a little bit ago that algea was taking over the plugs and that my red and purple hornets were dying because of that. They are getting smaller and have been closed for a little bit now. I was wondering if any of you have any ideas of what is going on??? My water parameters are perfect and when I got the frag pack I diped the plugs and scraped with tooth brush. I have plenty of other zoa and paly frags and colonies that are doing fine.

Oh and I forgot to put that I have 3Watt LED Crees and I keep the blues on from 10am-7pm and the whites on from 12pm-3pm. Also they are in enclosed DIY frag racks so my flag fin angelfish doesnt get to them. So that means that my fish cant eat the algea off, but I'm going to go in there now and scrub them with a tooth brush.

Get some furan 2. Add teaspoon in a small container with fresh water. Dip the affected frag for 15 min. Shake it in the container to remove debris. Make another container and add a few drops of Lugols iodine dip this a couple times and return to tank. Repeat this every other day until frag looks completely healthy.

Would you recommend the Furan 2/ Lugol's dip for this stressed frag of woodstocks?

Thats too bad you have to keep it inclosed. I had the same issue minus the angelfish, threw a tang in there and the frags were spotless and zs and ps were happy.

Those look like a dip in furan 2 would help.

Furan 2 only helps with zoa pox from my experience. If its algae or a brown film, I have had good luck with 50/50 peroxide/tank water mix. Go 1-2 min and then most algae will pull or fall off. I usually blast with a power head a moment and return to its spot.

You never stated what type of algae.

+1 if there's algae on the actual polyps or a brown type of film, I would take out put it in a dish of tank water and add just enough peroxide until you see the algae bubble. From there I would let it sit for a couple of minutes. If you put too much peroxide you could really stress the polyps, but I saved a frag of dark pheonix PE using this method.

Dipping is fine, but you have to change water cemetery if not, bad water condition still remain. Change water every 2 day and take any carbon media out if using. Your zoas will recover after 3 water changes.
