I got a chunk of live rock in December and have been finding all sorts of hitchhikers on it. This pink stuff appeared around a month ago and has been multiplying like rabbits in the last week or so. It appears to be soft and can be seen waving in higher flow areas. What is it? Coral? Sponge? Tunicates? I cannot find anything about this online and I stumped my LFS owner with this stuff.

Do you know where they got it from. Is it wild rock from the gulf or other location, or dry rock they've cooked?

Looks like a red macroalgae of some kind to me - I'm not great with macroalgae ID, so I'm not confident on what kind it is. Some types that I know of that look similar:
Halymenia, Porphyra, and Cryptonemia sp.
