Hi - I am having an issue with a type of algae I have never seen. It is light brown and is covering my exposed rock and pretty much everything else. the first picture shows it on my starboard bottom as well. It blows off the rock easily. I have tried reducing feeding and doubling down on my wc over the last 2 month but its not working. It in to hair algae or any Cyanobacteria I have ever seen. Any help with an ID and cure will be appreciated. Thanks

About 18 months old. I did not run GFO or Carbon until this started up a couple of months ago but I am now. It did not seem to impact it any. I was getting zero phosphate with an Elos test but I thought this stuff may be using it up. But as I said, the GFO has not helped.

Might try going lights out for 3 days if you haven't already.
Maybe stir it all up and blow it off the rocks then do a large water change while it's floating in the water column. Then lights out. Worth a shot and wouldn't hurt anything.

I have not tried that. I had a mild cyano outbreak just prior to this but adjusting flow and doubling up on water changes took care of that. I will try lights out and a 50% WC and see if that helps. I am going to check my nitrates today as well.
