I have this really odd looking algae that I am very unsure what it is. I’ve never seen it and Google doesn’t even know either lol. HELP.

it’s brownish and seems to like the light and when taken out it’s kind of slimey. Has anyone seen this before? Seems to form in types of bubbles.

Thank you.

I don't know what it is but I have definitely seen it before. Comes out in almost formed snotty chunks. I just assumed it was a mix of dinos and another species of algae or bacteria.

You described it exactly how it is. Ugh a form of dinos, I been battling to keep po4 up and nitrate is a bit on the higher side.

Mine disappeared pretty quickly with lots of manual siphoning and the addition of UV....of course it was replaced by other forms of undesirable growths lol.

I did the manual siphoning last week, it was really bad! I’m working on raising my Po4 and will grab a UV to help kill it. Thanks for your guidanc!

search forum for "chrysophytes". You'll see other people posting pictures of the same snotty clumps.

This stuff and it suxxxx if it gets out of control. Very difficult to get rid of and takes a long time as well. Good luck!
