that was on reefbuilders too.. my understanding is that it is only slightly different than a typical maxima.. something to do with the shell having more distinct folds under the mantle, looking more like pointy teeth..

they are already in the hobby, apparently liveaquaria had some a couple years back..

New Tridacna species, one of these Maxima clams is not like the others

I had a clam strikingly similar to this... Ordered off live Aquarias divers den. Unfortunately it passes during a tank move. If I can find the shell I'll post a picture.

sure they do.. people are always looking for gigas clams.. they're absolutely HUGE.. and fetch a pretty penny if you can even find one.. a big clam can be a great centerpiece..

that said, this maxima will not get that big.. a maxima is one of the smallest of the giant clams..
