I ordered a captive bred tuxedo urchin and it came in last night. It was in shipping for two days so my girlfriend just floated it and dropped it in. She said it moved around a little bit last night. This morning it’s just hanging out in the corner and I’m unsure if he’s losing spines and I don’t see any of the tentacles sticking out. Here’s a pic:

Water parameters:
Salinity - 1.026
Alk - 8.9
Calcium - 400
Mag - 1280
Phosphate - 0.2
Nitrate - 19.2
pH - 8.0
Temp 79

No noticeable reaction. What should I be looking for? I’m guessing the transfer did him in which is sad. I’ll give him a night or two just in case he does pull through and then pluck him out

if it is in rough shape, you will usually see snails/crabs eating or needles falling off/left behind. They are great clean up crew….blind but does good job. Never had on live more than 9 months and usually 3-6
