How much flow are you looking at? How much total flow is in there right now? What kinda $$ are you looking to spend?
Have you looked at MP 10 or 40?
Have you looked to WP 25 or 40?
Possibly Hydors, which alot of people use.

Hydors
The MaxJets in Circulation mode are pretty good.
JBJ Oceanstream
Tunze Stream
Sicce Wave Surfer
Aqueon Circulation Pump
Take your pick, all very good pumps.

It is my belief that random flow and wave simulations are definitely the way to go...however equipment can be kinda costly. I recently bought a Koralia600 and am very proud with its performance, 600gph with 4.5W. I got it for around $20-$25, just shop around online. Don't forget to load the shopping cart, S&H can get you in the long run.

Your flow should run continuously, unless you get a crontrollable one, then one might slow the flow down a bit at night. If your looking at the controllers, thats where your going to get caught with some $$.
