For you owners out there of these two setups, did you decide to use the stock skimmer with the system in the sump or opt for your own?

I'm only curious because I've been debating using it because I like the form factor, however the waterfall effect and trying to manage that is becoming a bit tedious ( it is after all designed to be in the back of the main display ) . With the skimmer's return being above the sump's walls and right against it I fear if Murphy's law took hold I'd have flooding into my cabinet and floors.

Anyways, just a general question about it if anyone has any experience or feedback I'd greatly appreciate it! At the moment I'm eyeing other skimmer options.

Hello I have the Redsea max E-260 with the lower sump. I just opted to get rid of the skimmer down below. Was tired of cleaning splash up from the skimmer off walls in cabinet. I went with a Reef Octopus essence s130. Dustin
