Pearling algae

So from my Fw days, injecting co2 etc we would get plants to “pearl”
I’m watching some algae on a rock of mine that looks like it’s doing just that, creating bubbles that will float away. No it’s not bubble algae.
Just curious if it’s a normal thing in sw?
