I am currently have 4 xr15 and 1 xr30 on my 150gal (48x30x24high), I have four xr15 on four conners and xr30 in the middle. I bought 2 Xr30 blue but not install yet. Since I will need to modify my canopy to mount these light, I wonder how many light and which model will work?
How much coverage the gen5 will be?
Will 2 xr30 will be enough? if not, what is recommend?

I think Two XR30s should be good unless you have a heavy filled SPS and even then you could prolly be ok. I don’t remember the exact recommended spacing but Bulkreef did some videos you should def check out they will have all your answers

I wouldn’t change my lights. What you have works just fine. What do you hope to gain?

The gen 5s have been plagued with issues. People have had the lights run away and go full power, killing off tanks full of corals. Not worth the headache.

But I would go with 4 XR15s over 30s. The reason is you can get a wider spread. You have a 30” wide tank. I would set up things in wider spread than what a 30 can do.
