Back in the day there was a good reef store about 70 miles away. I would consider any LFS near me with any coral in shop as must have...since they rarely have. Standard LFS drive now is 50 miles.

I did drive from Vermont to Connecticut to pick up the best cured Fiji rock at the time...20 years ago. That was probably the only one stop shopping for reef related stuff. I usually make away LFS stops during family visits or vacation trips.

Well just the other day was a trip from VA back to Ohio if that counts (though didn’t specifically go for coral it just kinda happened). Otherwise standard is about 50-75 miles

HAHA I thought the title was how far have you dove to get a coral. My lfs is 5 minutes away but sometimes I go to one that's 45 minutes away. That's it :D

I live in central WV and there are no reef shops around me, so I fairly regularly will drive out of state to go to lfs. There is one just south of Cincinnati, OH that I like, but the farthest drive for me is to one that I visit every few months in Charlotte, NC which is close to 300 miles each way. That is just to look around at a store and not even always buy anything.

I guess living in Florida I am somewhat fortunate because there are several saltwater fish and coral stores in the area. The furthest I have driven is 64 miles to WWC in Orlando, they have great fish and corals and reasonably priced. The other good LFS is in Tampa which is about 34 miles away.

I was visiting family 600 miles away over the Memorial Day weekend. I went into a LFS and saw a piece with a colony of zoas and a leather and it was about 1/2 the cost of what I would pay at home so I had to impulsively jump at the opportunity. I picked it up the night before we left. Total, it was in the bag in a warm Styrofoam cooler for 25 hours before I could get it acclimated. 8 days later and we are happy and healthy :)

The nearest LFS to me is approximately 90+ miles away (Minneapolis) so anytime I go to pick up a coral from them it's a 200 mile round trip.

Hey there I'm from Southern WV. Would you mind telling me the name of the store in Charlotte I go there occasionally. Thanks

Nemo's Reef. I have been to many reef shops in the states bordering WV and Nemo's reef is my favorite. Their selection and prices are both good IMO, plus you can go on their website and see what livestock they have with prices. Although the website doesn't include all of their corals.

Kinda similar for me. Technically drove 250+ from SC after grabbing a gorgonian there that I knew I had to have, but wasn’t there specifically for coral (or at least that’s what I’ll tell my family)

I don’t have a “ must have” livestocks. What I have is what’s available around me, typically 10 miles or less. 30 miles one way top, if the source is reputable.
I guess I’m both lazy and not as devoted reefer as others here.
