Before and after our light stripping was installed. The cabinet maker was surprised by my ask but is now proud of his creation!

Without sounding ‘thick’ I can’t tell the difference, what am I looking for ?

Do you mean you can’t see the strip of light down the cabinet at the top middle?

Yes, there were a number of seams where light leaked. We didn’t want to install wood structure that would have blocked it but interfered with access. So lightstripping was the decision. Seems good so far. The three vertical ones in the center needed this treatment the most as they can’t have anything behind or impacting which has to open first.

Apex questions:
Does anyone have a perspective on what to shut off on a tank leak vs a sump leak? I think on a tank leak I should shut off the return pump to prevent adding all the sump water to the leak. For a sump leak, maybe keep it going to keep water moving? Shut off ato? Searching for ideas here. Thanks.

Well this is my sort of theory.

If the tank leaks your, well, your stuffed, so you may as well put your wellingtons on, get the mop out and await the divorce papers

If the sump (here your stuffed again anyway!) or manifold pipe leaks you could turn the main return off to prevent it spraying all over and thats what I did. However their is a slight problem here in that can you really trust the Apex leak detector sensors to work independenty. I found the answer to be definitely not, even sat on paper towel to reduce alarms. Oh, and then await divorce papers......

When I first set Apex up I set it to turn the return off if it detected water on the floor as you would. I came down one morning and it was switching the pump on/of every other second. You know the horrendous noise the S650 makes when you turn the pump off ? Well times that by 10! Lol

I was so traumatised by those sounds, I still jump whenever I hear the washing machine, dishwasher etc working!

Mine is now set so that it will alert me if it detects a leak, but I control what is then does. I have a camera at the rear of the tank and can physically see the detector and anything else as it rotates. I’ve also added a defer command of about 30 seconds to the alarm to avoid any alarms being caused by sensor ‘noise’

I know 30 seconds may appear to long for a leak, but unfortunately technology isn’t so perfect that I can trust it.

ATO you could, depending on what your using but then again, ‘sensor reliability’. My ATO wont turn off automatically on either system and I use the Tunze and ATK

I'm interested in your method of getting Nest cam into Fusion. I'm also interested if it Stays in fusion. I tried a few years ago, my Nest didn't seem to stay connected to Fusion and I gave up. I'm hoping something has changed and it works now.

Well put. We are forcing an integration between two parties that don't want to make it happen.

My method - which I found on a neptune forum (thus making in not really mine) works for iOS and for Safari but not Chrome.

Next - steps to finding the right URL to add.
1. Find the PUBLIC URL for your NEST Camera after enabling public sharing.
2. Verify you can view the URL in browser tab. I use CHROME for this whole sequence. (EVB - past url into browser).
3. Right Click - choose INSPECT (NOT View Source). (EVB: View, Developer, Inspect Element)
Use CTRL-F or CMD-F (for FIND). type MPEG and it should scroll to the right line in the code
This is the line you want to COPY/PASTE into FUSION.
The type is MPEG-4. I pasted the data including everything past the playlist.m3u8 like this:

...playlist.m3u8?public=fx6waNeaOT

there was more code past that but I didn't include it.

I modified my egg crate side barrier to swing open so I can easily feed the fish. I made hinges out of L shaped threaded hooks which went into the wall, and pieces of acrylic tube which slide over them and which were zip tied to the egg crate. Seems to work!

This aquascape does not like shrimp. Not sure why but they have all been wrassed out of there. Perhaps too much access for flow means not enough hides holes? I had shrimp with these same fish before!

But I have a fedex tracking number from eco tech! Lights tomorrow!

After a few minutes of mounting, we have light! I think I traumatized the fish - they turn on at 100 percent power. After fiddling with the app for a bit, we are set on AB+. I’m letting these ramp up and down and then starting my T5s once in the ramp. 25% max for now. It’s a lot of lights!

My yellow tang woke up in a foul mood and has been harassing my gem. I've installed a critter trap with nori to try and trap him, and added a 4x4 mirror to the tank which has definitely spooked him some. Hopefully I can extract the yellow (plan a) or the mirror will have re-territoried the tank (hope b).

In other news, I've added some tester SPS, zoas and the like. Now have birdsnest, some brains, a stylo and a bunch of zoas. If they hang ok for a week or so, I think it's game time.

Spent some time on the power center as well - not immaculate, but much more organized now and essentially "done".

Got my feeding center from Melev's Reef - along with some overflow covers. Now supplementing with pellets a few times a day.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_22.jpg

Still a pretty long list of to dos!

The yellow tang is out. Unfortunately it required removing most of the aqua scape but some things have to be done. He is back at the LFS who sold him to me several years ago. New solorensis wrasse added. My last attempt - when I had a six line - ended badly. Apparently six lines and flasher / fairies don’t mix well.

Now I know your a fisherman but have you tried one of these to catch fish?

It takes a bit of patience, food, and cunnning but they work a treat. I caught ‘Satan tang’ AKA yellow tang and some others with it.
