When cutting, most advise to bisect the mouth. Cutting from the foot, down makes that more difficult. Any reason you do it this direction?

When cutting, most advise to bisect the mouth. Cutting from the foot, down makes that more difficult. Any reason you do it this direction?

For nem this size, the large and numerous tentacles can obscure the mouth and cause accidental cutting into a tentacle. The foot is also the meatiest part I find it easy to cut. Also the mouth was dead center and the nem presented a small tear as it had already begun the process of splitting.

Not going to lie to you...that is pretty brutal. Imagine if that is what had to be done for humans to have babies. Species would be gone in a generation.

Trust me my first time cutting any anemone my hands were shaking. But the mechanism of a natural split is the same as it tears itself up with gut showing and all. And a natural split takes longer than a quick cut. In the video, you can also see the process of splitting had already started as signs of tear were showing.
