Hi,

moved homes, downsized to 30 gallon cube. New 525XL is cycling. I have two clowns, a fire shrimp, snails, crabs I would put into the new tank. I did ich management in my 120 gallon mixed reef but reading through the threads, decided I will use this opportunity to eradicate ich. I have had ich on clowns from a tang 4 years ago, so clowns could still host disease?

So, transfer snails, crabs, shrimp to new tank. Move clowns to 5 gallon bucket, remove all rock and sand from current 30 gallon tank, place clowns back in (make up lost water w fresh salt), and start dosing copper? Also, new tank must remain fallow for 45 days.

Does this sound correct?

I’ve never seen ich pop up in a tank that has been stable for that long with no symptoms or no new animals added. Holding fish in a 5 gallon bucket is very stressful, and on top of the move, could prove problematic.
Why don’t you just set the tank up and watch everything for 45 days and then properly quarantine any new animals?

Hi Jay,
the 5 gallon bucket was just going to be used to hold clowns during me removing the live rock and sand from the 30 cube, which will be my QT tank for the new live stock. (After I remove inverts and place in my new tank).

Just wanted to make sure I don’t introduce dormant ich into this new tank!

Thanks
