Just bought a purple tang and the store I purchased it from uses a 1.018 salinity. I use a 1.024 salinity in my DT. I'm going to quarantine the Tang in a separate tank with a salinity of 1.020. I will drip acclimate from that tank. When it is time to put him in the DT should I drip acclimate him again from the DT which has the salinity of 1.024?

You can just start raising the salinity in the qt tank over time when your almost ready to transfer him to the display tank.

Not sure it's the best way but my QT tanks don't seem to evaporate a lot of water so I top off with salt water rather than RODI when I get new fish and it slowly brings up the salinity and when it gets close to 1.026 I then start using RODI.
