Hi,
recently found a small( 1/2" body) reddish crab in the tank. The claws are almost like emerald crabs with a flat tip. he seems to be eating algae only but can't tell. The live rock is from the Caribbean so that should narrow down suspects.

Thanks

sorry for the bad pictures

Red mithrax, cousin of the emerald crab. But they can be hit or miss. Some stick to just algae, some develop a taste for corals.

It's mostly the boys who do. Female claws keep small so they stick with algae.

Keep an eye on coral and maybe target feed the crab some nori every other day. Depending on how much algae is growing on the rocks.
