Finally decided on my last tank for my sump. Ended up being 2 matching IM ext 40’s. 1 for each side of Reigns bedroom.

So this will be my tank build thread and updates on these 2. Going sps bare bottom, plumbed into existing sump, so I guess it’s a half of a build thread. But I will be modifying the sump with 6 more bulk heads.

Most of the equipment arrived today. Waiting on my second return pump and other light.

Reign is pleased! She loves watching her fish!

1 tank on each night stand.

I’m actually gonna take my time for setup and plumbing on these 2.

Looking forward to seeing this evolve! Is Reign a boxer mix or pit?

Rock work is finished! Wanted a simple clean look for the main pieces. About 18” tall should have a inch sticking out above the water line. Should be plenty of room for frags with none in shadows.

Went with the stax rock work. Ordered 80 lbs, each took around 20 lbs.

Used reef welder plastic pellets to hold it together. Easy to work with. Excellent bond.

I did learn not to mix new pellets into the existing mix, they get trapped inside and never turn translucent (squishy)

General layout for both tanks. Running dual xf330’s in each for flow. Return will be powered by a second L2 on my sump.

Next step will be boards on the bottoms and caulked in. hopefully Sunday.

Next step will be making the towers rotate at a constant low speed.

Okay. The idea I had for spinning towers is a go. Motors and control boards are in. Just waiting for a couple other parts. Hopefully get time to test it this weekend.

Motor only sounds loud because the phone was close. Could not stop it with my fingers. Should work out nicely.

Made a little headway today. Was the part I was dreading. Drilling and adding 2 1 1/2” bulk heads with water in the sump. I set up a slow siphon that kept the water below my holes. Clowns seemed to enjoy playing in 3” of water. Lol.

Minor set back. Had a snail get into my return pump about a month ago. Didn’t think much about it at the time. Started having some corals start taking a turn for the worst over the last 3 weeks. Snail smoked the impeller on my L2. Luckily I had the second one that was suppose to run my 40’s. Will be ordering another L2 in 2 weeks.

Don’t mind the wire mess. Will be redoing the whole system as I get the 40’s ready. Also changing out all the white pvc to schedule 80. White temp lines are still up for my 6 in the kitchen.
