Very proud of my 20 gallon long . Started the build back in June 2017. Purchased this one off Facebook for 15$ and had a standard 10 gallon laying around for a sump. My goal was to have a a budget build. I already had diamond drill bits . So I bout a four pack of 3/4 bulkheads and drilled for 2 drains and one return.

My sump is intended to be a refugium only with 2 simple baffles . Drain/refugium/return . I put some extra dry rock in the sump to help out with the pukani I have up top. During the cycle I had some bad cyano in the sump . But after a little chemi clean my refugium started growing out of control and I believe it is a very efficient filter. My herbie drain system is dead silent. With my canopy the Amazon black box led is close off the water and I had terrible shadowing. I removed the lenses now I have incredible spread.

Fts from today .
2 black clowns
Diamond goby keeps sand clean . Plenty pods I hope in the refugium .
Just added a bta that split from my 40 a couple of days ago. Fingers crossed the clowns find it someday. Also I haven’t done a water change since setup in June. And don’t intend to as long as I’m harvesting macro from the sump and an algea free in the display :)

My super simple ato made out of an old Brita filter tank straight to a float valve. Salinity never an issue. And here is the fuge today . I’m trying to get chaeto to take over the caulerpa. Salinity is around 1.022 as I intended it to be a softie fish system

Hot dam! That's amazing. Definitely got some ideas. I have and extra 20g and was thinking of doing a sump/refugium too. This is more confidence that I can

Tank looking great. The next step on my list is to get some kind of temp controller ASAP . I would sure hate to lose everything due to a heater failure. Also I’ve been lazy but I’ve been meaning to cut a piece of black ABS or black acrylic and glue it in my glass overflow to hide that unsightly plumbing

Also I will state that since the tank start at beginning of July 17 I’ve have not done a water change or performed any water test other than periodic salinity check (1.021). I’m always pulling out macro and I hope for continued success
