Season 2 Shut Up GIF by Paramount+

For this sale we are running to fun things :)

1) we will do a sticker prize reveal for 5 Lucky people. What this means is that on the back of the free sticker we send we will put a number on the sticker. Number 1-5. This number will the correspond to a prize. We will give 5 Prizes to be revealed after all the sticker numbers are claimed. Number 1 will get 1st pick on the prize and then number 2 will choose and so forth. In order to claim your number, you have to take a picture of the sticker with the number you got and post it here within 24 hours of receiving your box. If you don’t show the number you got within 24 hours you will forfeit your number. Once all the numbers are claimed. we will do a reveal sometime before May 1st. The reveal will show the 5 prizes that can be picked. Once the Reveal is complete the winners will choose the prize starting with number 1. Good luck to all we can’t wait to see who wins! Tag us if you won or the claim won’t count

2) we will do an unboxing video contest for a $250 Gift card. We will pick a video at random and award the winner after all boxes have been shipped. The idea is that you will do a video receiving your corals. You will document the package coming in and opening them and then showing them in your tank. We will use the video on our testimonial section of our website. We hope many people enter this contest. the video must be on YouTube. Tag us with your entry or it won’t count. Good luck to all and we cant wait to see what you got!

3) stay active as we will be giving out random $25 gift card as this thread lives on!!!!!

Good morning everyone. Another beautiful day in Florida here.

Got a question for those versed in Alkalinity dosing math. I use Brightwell Code B for my buffer. Currently dosing 64 ml per day. Apex doses that on a 24 hour schedule dosing 0.8 ml every 18 minutes throughout that 24 hour schedule. On that 24 hour cycle, Alkalinity measures 8.6 at lights on in the morning at 07:30, 8.4 at noon, 8.16 at lights out at 7:00 pm and back to 8.6 at lights on for a 0.5 swing everyday. It’s extremely consistent with those numbers.

Is that 0.5 swing reasonable or should I adjust my dosing schedule to the lights on time only to try and keep it more stable.

Here is the schedule swing and shots of my Acros. I feel the corals are quite happy. Just wondering about the Alk swing and if it’s just fine. I’m wanting to stay with the, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

I think you already answered your question. If it isn't broke, don't try and fix it. I'd say it's fine and your tank looks great as always :)

Added note for above. The high spike on the 11th was the day before I recalibrated the Trident.
You could adjust the dosing to be smooth day and night. It takes more alk during thr day and less at night. Depending on what you dose for alk it should raise your pH during the day also. But..in the end..if everything is happy the way it is its probably fine. I like remaining within .1/.2 throughout the day

Your alk only swings .2 max?

When it's dialed in it doesn't move. I've had it swing when spurts happen but I redial it in. It's been 8.1 for a few days now. If I see a change I make a small adjustment
That’s awesome. I just learned how to use the OSC command in the apex. Recently started Kalkwasser at night and that OSC command is great.

Man, you have it very dialed in. Dosing different ml as the day progresses. Wow!
@billyocean has taught me well. When I first tried to dial in, I test, dose, test. My corals consume mostly during day when lights on and not so much after 8pm. I always test same time. Right now, starts at 7.9 and ends with 7.9.

That’s how I do it too. Test one time at the same time and also 7.9. But for now, I’m able to supply all the alk/cal I need though Kalkwasser and I’m doing it while lights off to help bring up PH.

This guy who has tons of very high end acros with great PE lets his ALK swing like crazy. More than I’m comfortable with…:

Yeah...I've read plenty of his stuff..hes a beast. It's obviously not the end all be all but it doesn't hurt. Healthy coral can withstand a lot.

Here is my PH. Pretty consistent. Being single, my house CO2 stays very low, so no big swings in PH.
